1. Descriptions:

     Carriage bolts is also called round head square neck screws, mushroom head square neck screws, and coach bolt.

      The mushroom head square neck bolts are features by its round head and square neck. This makes the bolt self-locking when placed through a square hole in a metal strap, or a round hole in most wood. This allows the fastener to be installed with only a single tool, a spanner or wrench, working from one side. Mushroom head square neck bolts are put into a hole which are the same size as the shank of it and then to be hammered in the rest of the way, and the square shoulder locks it tightly. While used a smooth finish surface is needed commonly in order that nothing becomes fixed on the fasteners. It is commonly to use them on bare timber, the squared neck giving enough grasp to prevent rotation. Mushroom head (round head)square neck bolts are extensively used in security fixings where the bolt must only be removable from one side.
